Fresh off a down grade to its credit rating (which will force the financing of the white elephant Vikings Stadium to be even more costly to taxpayers) the City of Minneapolis, Minnesota has been floating balloons suggesting it may purchase the electric utility known as Xcel Energy.
In its latest move towards financial lunacy, the City of Minneapolis is now saying that Xcel Energy is not green enough:
1st, have we not learned that government ownership of business does not work? Communism and Socialism are governance styles doomed to failure. The former USSR is the prime example. Without a profit incentive, governments do not have the same attention to expenses, customer satisfaction and the bottom line that private entrepreneurs do.
Minneapolis taxpayers and electric utility customers, "Do you really not to turn government loose on another enterprise that it will surely screw up?" Following Social Security, Medicare, the Post Office and recently admitted lies and surprises about Obamacare; "Do you really want to have to deal with the shenanigans the politicians could play with a public utility?"
"How many children and brother's in laws and other friends & relatives do you want to support through make paychecks nepotism positions at a public utility?"
Worse, "Do you really want to be treated to the sophomoric behavior of government officials in administering budgets, expenses and revenue streams?"
For all the criticism of business, we know of one certainty: In the event of economic crisis, business first starts by cutting the services it thinks its customers will least notice and will be least likely to develop an adverse reaction to.
Contrast this to government; Government cuts the things that its customers (aka citizens) will most likely be adversely affected by. This is a strategy to force, extort, incentivize citizens to agree to a tax increase. In this scenario; waste, fraud, nepotism and inefficiency never see the light of day that private sector budget constraints force. This as opposed to private business, which at various stages of financial crisis goes through a process of weeding out waste, fraud, inefficiency and even dumps nepotistic friends, brother in laws and other relatives it finds necessary to survive. Without these pressures our government just becomes ever more bloated.
Minneapolis taxpayers and electric utility customers, "Do you want to be treated to school board budget shenanigans?" They cut buses, sports, chemistry and second languages to force you to agree to a price (tax) increase.
Do you really want the City of Minneapolis to be in the position to say, "If you live within 2 miles of the power plant, you have to supply and service your own electric lines?"
"That government is best which governs least." Henry David Thoreau
When our government has perfected the art of governance, maybe then we can consider their involvement in ownership of business which is currently is properly the domain of private enterprise.
Those were my thoughts.
Thank you, my fellow citizens, for taking your valuable time to read and reflect upon what is written here.
If what is written here rings true to you, perhaps another helpful exercise would be to ponder why you have not heard about this in your local paper or in the major media. [You may find articles about issues from this writer's local area posted in your area and wonder why. The reason is this: Remember those travel junkets taxpayers pay for (the ones the bureaucrats skip to go to the beach or the casino) but allegedly used for training? Well some government apparatchiks actually attend those training seminars. And learn nationally en-mass techniques to "manage" WE THE PEOPLE. Since they all receive similar training in oppression, it is likely the problems you are experiencing with government in your area are similar to the problems in your area (unless you live outside the USA). With that commonality in mind, it is this writer's intent that insight garnered from this writer articles about his local issues can be used by the reader to understand and applied to their local issues.]
Please join with me in mutually pledging to each other and our fellow citizens our lives, our fortunes and our sacred honor to our mutual endeavors of restoring liberty and economic opportunity to WE THE PEOPLE as our Founding Fathers envisioned and intended. The Conundrum: While our #Government works full time with compensation and funded with our money for the cause of #Tyranny; WE THE PEOPLE are forced to work part time without compensation for the cause of #liberty with what is left over of our time, money and energy,
