It's time to get your snow-fever on at the sixth annual Minneapolis Ski & Snowboard Expo. Held at the Mall of America, the expo gives Minnesota's skiers and riders a chance to talk with representatives of local and western ski resorts, buy season passes, and examine new gear.
Representatives from local ski areas will be there, as will people from resorts in Greater Minnesota (Giants Ridge, Lutsen, Mt. Kato, Mont du Lac), Michigan (Blackjack), Wisconsin (Granite Peak), Colorado (Keystone, Steamboat), Montana (Big Sky), and Wyoming (Jackson Hole). Fred Seymour, who oversees alpine services for the Three Rivers Park District (Elm Creek, Hyland Ski & Snowboard Area) told me the local resorts are "excited about being back at the Mall of America again."
Retail and goods exhibitors include local firm WSI Sports (clothing), Hoigards, and Rossignol. (You can see a complete list here.)
The show will be on the first level of the mall, on the east side, between Sears and the rotunda. (The rotunda, it should be pointed out, is not at the center of the mall.) For easier access, park in the east parking ramp.
The show will feature a few events as well, including an attempt to break the world record for "Most People Dancing With Hula Hoops." (Be there early: Registration for the dance starts at 7:00 a.m. on Saturday.) There will also be an trampoline show (turn down your sound if you're in an office) featuring flips and jumps in the rotunda every two hours, starting at noon each day.
Hours for the show are the same as hours for the mall itself: 10:00 a.m. until 9:30 p.m. on Friday, 10:00 a.m. until 9:30 p.m. on Saturday, and 11:00 am until 7:00 p.m. on Sunday.
