A Minneapolis explosion ripped through a building early on New Year’s Day sending multiple victims to the hospital. Some of the injured jumped from the windows of the three story building to escape the blazing inferno that immediately followed this Minneapolis explosion, according to the Huffington Post on Jan. 1.
The Cedar Avenue South building shock the earth around it when it exploded at 8:15 a.m. local time. The fire has caused massive damage to the building.
Hennepin County EMS, Robert Ball, reported that the injured were suffering from burns from this intense fire. Some of the injured were brought to the hospital after sustaining trauma from jumping out the windows of the three story building.
People escaped the fire encompassing all floors of the building jumping out the nearest window. More than a dozen people have been hospitalized today, with the latest count from NECN News live at 13 injured.
The fire in this building was upgraded to a three alarm fire quickly after the first responders arrived. The building contains apartments and the Otanga Grocery, according to the Huffington Post. The fire department reported that everyone was accounted for after they finished their search and rescue of the building.
