In Northfield sits a school property founded by D.L. Moody and currently up for sale. The C. S. Lewis Foundation has had a vision for that property, which they describe on their website as "...founding a fully accredited, four-year 'Great Books' college with a School of the Visual and Performing Arts. / The College will be rooted in the historic Christian faith and so structured as to ensure its fidelity to that profession. It will be characterized by a firm commitment to 'Mere Christianity,' and therefore be inclusive of Christians of all traditions." Both Hobby Lobby, the current owner of the property, and the foundation are also very interested in maintaining the legacy of D.L. Moody, himself a powerfully influentual Christian leader.
This school is an amazing opportunity for the foundation, and for the Pioneer Valley, to play an important role in impacting the world for Christ and shaping the future. Unfortunately, they have run into a significant problem. Namely, money.
In order to prove their viability as a buyer, the foundation was asked to raise $5 million devoted to the project by the end of 2011. They have failed to do so, and while they have not lost their chance at it, they no longer have exclusive opportunity to purchase. Hobby Lobby is now seeking other potential buyers.
This page gives you an opportunity to be involved in seeing this vision take root. It actually has three ways to donate, and while one is encouraged to consider the others when possible, the one on the far left is devoted to the founding of the college. I encourage you to prayerfully consider helping this ministry reach its goal and equip coming generations to touch the hearts and minds of this world and show them the truth of the Gospel.
