The much awaited and ever popular Summer Music Series at Long’s Park begins this evening and Mingo Fishtrap will start off the season at 7:30 p.m. Based out of Austin, Texas, the band is a self described “soul, funk, horn fueled Motown pop” band.

Grab a blanket or lawn chair and enjoy this free concert. There will be food vendors there although attendees may certainly bring in their own picnic dinners. Pets – on leashes – are allowed. Do remember to clean up after your dog though.

On Time, the group’s latest album, will be released Tuesday. The band includes Roger Blevins, Jr. on vocals and guitar; Dane Farnsworth on the organ and keyboard; Chip Vayenas on drums and vocals, Mikel Urdy on percussion; Roger Blevins, Sr. on bass; Steve Butts on trumpet; Dan Bechdolt on saxophone; and Zoi Waterhouse on trombone.

Next Sunday Vince Giordano & The Nighthawks will perform. John Nemeth & Bo Keys will perform on 15 June. On 22 June the concert will begin at 6:30 p.m. Performers that week are Slackwater News, Slimfit, and Shrimpboat. Allegro will perform on the final Sunday of June. July performers will be the Patriotic Pershing Band, Darrell Scott & Tim O’Brien, Kopecky Family Band, and The Steel Wheels. In August, performers include Girsa, Luisto Rosario, and Jonathon Boogie Long. One Sunday is still to be announced. With the exception of 22 June, all concerts begin at 7:30 p.m.

Long’s Park is located at 1441 Harrisburg Pike.
