The Arizona Sonora Desert Museum's Mineral Madness event is on Saturday, January 18 and Sunday, January 19, 2014. The event includes family events as well as mineral sales. This is a good opportunity to learn about minerals, begin a collection, and add to a collection. The event is from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the Baldwin Education Building.
One of the main features of Mineral Madness is a variety of family activity stations. These stations will be from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. both days. The station themes include Finding Fossils, Ride-Through-The-Rock-Cycle, Discover Micro-Minerals, Special Properties of Minerals, Minerals in My Chocolate, Mineral Wheel of Fortune
Meteorites, and Origami Crystal Folding. Visiting the stations will also allow kids to build their own egg carton collection for free (help out by bringing your own empty egg carton to fill).
