After the success of the Avengers Skin Pack DLC for Minecraft: Xbox 360 Edition, it looks like Microsoft is interested in creating more Marvel themed add-ons in the future after Microsoft Studios Producer Roger Carpenter recently met with the comic creators. Carpenter, who has acted as the lead producer for both the Xbox One and Xbox 360 version of Minecraft, announced that he was in meetings with Marvel on Feb 28. What was discussed behind closed doors has not yet been revealed, but Carpenter did not that Marvel enjoyed the original Avengers Skin Pack so it’s safe to assume that more may be on the way.
Meeting with those awesome Marvel people. They liked our Marvel Avengers Skin Pack.
The Marvel Avengers Skin Pack is only currently available for the Xbox 360 version of the popular block-building game. Despite the fact that a PS3 edition of Minecraft launched late last year, Sony fans have not yet received any licensed DLC to date. Furthermore, Friday’s meetings will only deal with possible future Xbox content as Carpenter works for Microsoft Studios. This means that Marvel is discussing the possibility of additional content rather than a PS3 port of the last skin pack.
Carpenter also traveled to various Microsoft offices earlier in the week to discuss both Minecraft: Xbox One Edition as well as the existing Xbox 360 edition. The title’s lead producer expressed his wished to share the features coming to the next-gen version of Minecraft on the Xbox One and stated that he hoped to talk about them soon.
Developed by 4J Studios, Minecraft: Xbox 360 Edition is out now as a digital download from Xbox Live Arcade or on store shelves after the game received a physical retail disc release in the summer of 2013. The Avengers Skin Pack for Minecraft: Xbox 360 Edition added dozens of new avatar skins which allowed fans to play as several different heroes and villains from the famed comic book universe.
4J Studios is also currently developing versions of Minecraft to appear on both the Xbox One and PS4.
