Gamers apparently can’t get enough of Minecraft: Xbox 360 Edition as it has now been revealed that the 4J Studios developed title has officially sold 10 million copies. Microsoft’s Major Nelson announced on his blog on Dec 13 that, in honor of the milestone achievement, many of the game’s DLC add-on will be on sale for 50% off this Saturday only.

The celebratory savings give players discounts on all of the title’s skin and texture packs, including this past week’s release of the Fantasy Texture Pack. However, the officially licensed mash-up packs won’t be affected by the weekend sale.

Minecraft: Xbox 360 Edition originally released as a download-only title in May of 2012. Earlier this year however, the title also received a physical retail disc release which allowed those without internet connection a chance to play. Sales of the console version of the hit game continue to rise. To put things in perspective, the PC edition of Minecraft, which fully launched in 2011 with a purchasable alpha available for purchase since 2009, also just reached a milestone of 13 million sales. This means that the shorter lived console edition of the game is slowly gaining speed to pass the sales of the original PC version of Minecraft.
