While texture packs support was finally added to 4J Studios’ Minecraft: Xbox 360 Edition with yesterday’s release of Title Update 12, the developer confirmed on Friday that players won’t be able to actually implement any of the textures or upcoming mash-up packs for the time being until their legal team can give them the clearance to show off the new content.
PC players of the creative block building game have always been able to modify the game’s appearance by changing the world’s textures. This is something that simply couldn’t be done inside the Xbox 360 version of Minecraft. Title Update 12 however, which is now ready for download, finally added support for texture packs in the console edition of the game. Unfortunately, fans will have to wait a little while longer before actually getting to use the new textures. Title Update 12 also added jungle biomes, tameable ocelots, and doubled the vertical height build limit of the game.
Minecraft: Xbox 360 Edition is out now as a digital download from Xbox Live Arcade or as a physical retail disc that can be found in stores now.
