4J Studios posted an updated in regards to the Candy Texture Pack for “Minecraft Xbox 360 Edition” and “Minecraft PS3 Edition.” According to a report from VG247 on April 18, the development team confirmed that the DLC is now available for the Xbox 360 port of the open-world sandbox video game. PS3 players will have to wait until the 1.06 patch to be able to buy, download and play the new expansion.
The Candy Texture Pack changes the look of “Minecraft Xbox 360 Edition” and “Minecraft PS3 Edition” into a candy-filled utopia. On the Xbox 360 version, the DLC is priced at $1.00 and requires 4.50 MB of free space to download. A free trail version is also available although players won’t be able to save progress until they purchase the full product. You can find a screen of the expansion from the official 4J Studios Twitter page with the photo added to the top of this article.
Unlike the previous big patches that came out at around the same time on both current-generation versions, the 1.06 title update appears to be exclusive to “Minecraft PS3 Edition.” Along with the Candy Texture Pack, the new updates should also add more skin and texture downloadable contents. The PS3 port has not been getting as many DLC releases as “Minecraft Xbox 360 Edition” since it was launched late last year. It looks like the upcoming title update should address that particular issue.
Along with the 1.06 title update for “Minecraft PS3 Edition,” the development team recently revealed that they are also working on “Minecraft PS4 Edition,” “Minecraft Vita Edition” and “Minecraft Xbox One Edition” concurrently. Although no release dates have been confirmed for the three forthcoming ports, the announcements could be coming in the near future based on the recent updates from 4J Studios. The same video game has already sold more than 13.5 million copies on consoles with “Minecraft Xbox 360 Edition” selling over 12 million while “Minecraft PS3 Edition” surpassing 1.5 million.
