The "Halo" mash-up pack is now available for "Minecraft Xbox 360 Edition." According to a report from Play XBLA on May 28, the DLC can be purchased on the Xbox Live Marketplace for $3.99, which is the same price tag as the "Mass Effect" and "The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim" mash-up packs. Players can also get to try out a trial version of the expansion although some limitations will be imposed until the actual purchase is made.
The "Halo" mash-up pack includes 31 music tracks, 40 character skins, crafting items, themed menus and a user interface designed after the popular first-person shooting series. Furthermore, a pre-made world is also added with popular landmarks such as Blackout, Blood Gulch, Guardian, Sandtrap, Silent Cartographer and Valhalla. The entire file has a size of 153.54 MB, which is bigger than the aforesaid "Mass Effect" and "The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim" mash-up packs that were previously released.
The same DLC will also be made available for the upcoming "Minecraft Xbox One Edition." Customers who purchased the "Halo" mash-up pack for "Minecraft Xbox 360 Edition" should be able to download the same expansion for free with the Xbox One port. Mojang previously confirmed that a majority of DLC can be transferred between gaming platforms with the exception of a few packs due to some legal and licensing issues.
Current "Minecraft Xbox 360 Edition" owners can also upgrade to the Xbox One version for a small fee of $4.99. Both of the digital and physical copies (provided the disc version has been played online at least once) are eligible for the promotion, which is going to be active for one year after the launch of "Minecraft Xbox One Edition." Otherwise, the next-generation console port, which features much bigger worlds when compared to the Xbox 360 iteration, can be bought for $19.99.
At around the same time, the open-world sandbox game is also coming to the PS4 and Vita. The two Playstation versions also feature the same upgrade and DLC compatibility features. Instead of paying $4.99, however, "Minecraft PS3 Edition" owners can download "Minecraft Vita Edition" for free and vice versa. All three upcoming ports are slated to launch in Aug. of this year in the European and North American regions.
