Minecraft: PS3 Edition continues to dominate game sales over the Playstation Network just as the 4J Studios developed title has done ever since its launch last December according to the PS Store sales charts which were released by the official Playstation Blog on April 8.

The PS3 version of Minecraft once again claimed the number one spot for game sales on the Playstation 3, beating out South Park: The Stick of Truth which was the second most sold title for the console. Finishing the PS3’s top three was Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes.

In next-gen news, the release of inFamous: Second Son unsurprisingly allowed the Sucker Punch game to become the top sold PS4 title on the Playstation Store last month. As for add-on’s, eight of the top ten Playstation 3 DLC sales come from Activision’s Call of Duty franchise.

New content releases likely helped sales of Minecraft: PS3 Edition during the month of March. Last month ushered the release of TU14 for the game as well as the launch of the first four paid DLC packs. Two of the add-ons introduced new player skins which includes those belonging to popular Sony-exclusive characters from series like Uncharted and Killzone. The other two DLC additions brought the Plastic and City Texture Packs, which were previously released on the Xbox 360 edition of the game.

4J Studios has also already submitted Title Update 15 to Sony for certification. All content must successfully pass these certification tests before being allowed to launch on PSN. The fast turnaround for the release of TU15 is due to the fact that the coming update only contains bug fixes and not any actual new content.

Minecraft: PS3 Edition is now available as a digital-only download from the PS Store. The possibility exists that the game may receive a physical disc release in the future just like the Xbox 360 version of Minecraft.
