The popularity of Minecraft is reaching new heights as the creator of the hit title has shared new and exciting sales information. According to posts on his personal Twitter account from Dec. 13, Markus Persson, creator of Minecraft, announced that the PC version of Minecraft has now sold more than 13 million copies. To commemorate this remarkable accomplishment, Persson shared a comment capturing his excitement. You can find his full comment below:

Minecraft was released for PC in Nov. of 2011 and quickly gained a following of loyal supporters. Soon after finding success on PC, Minecraft made its home console debut with the release of Minecraft: Xbox 360 Edition for Xbox Live Arcade. Minecraft: Xbox 360 Edition, developed by 4J Studios, was released on May 9, 2012 as an Xbox Live Arcade exclusive. A retail copy of Minecraft for Xbox 360 would see release in the summer of 2013.
Since its 2012 debut, Minecraft: Xbox 360 Edition has sold more than 10 million copies. You can find an official statement from Persson and Microsoft below:

Having garnered success on PC and Xbox 360 - with sales combined nearly 25 million, one should expect sales of Minecraft to reach even greater heights when Minecraft releases on PS3, PS4, PS Vita, and Xbox One. Minecraft: PS4 Edition and the rest are currently being developed by 4J Studios.
Recently, the studio revealed that Minecraft is running on PS4 and Xbox One, but a lot of work remains.
The game is running on both Xbox One and PS4, but there’s a lot more work to do on both. No dates for either yet.
The company has not yet announced a release date.
