4J Studios posted a short update on the situations regarding the "Minecraft PS4 Edition," "Minecraft Xbox One Edition" and "Minecraft Vita Edition" release dates. According to a report from Segment Next on July 9, a spokesperson posted on Twitter stating that the development team is closing in on completing the production for the upcoming ports. As a result, it appears that all three are still scheduled to come out at the previously-announced launch time frames.

Fans were originally expecting "Minecraft PS4 Edition," "Minecraft Xbox One Edition" and "Minecraft Vita Edition" to come out much earlier. The Xbox One version was announced over a year ago at E3 2013. The PS4 and Vita iterations were also confirmed, along with the PS3 game, several months later at GamesCom.

The three new ports were slated to come out within the launch windows of the PS4 and Xbox One, both of which came out in Nov. of last year. However, 4J Studios decided only to release "Minecraft PS3 Edition" in late 2013. The video game did end up selling very well on Sony's current-generation console, however, with more than 1.5 million copies sold digitally. The same version was also released at physical retailers and have been appearing in best-selling charts as well.

"Minecraft PS4 Edition" and "Minecraft Xbox One Edition" should end up selling great as well. The two next-generation games increased the world size by 32 times (the spaces won't be infinite due to the save file limitations) when compared to the PS3 and Xbox 360 iterations. The visuals also got improved with support for 60 frames per second, native 1080p resolution and greater draw distances.

"Minecraft Vita Edition" is going to be equivalent, in terms of gameplay, to the PS3 and Xbox 360 versions as well. The three upcoming ports were previously announced to come out sometime next month. Based on the aforementioned comments made by the representative, more specific release dates should be announced in the very near future.
