The release date time frame may have been revealed for the next-generation console versions of “Minecraft.” According to a report from VG247 on Dec. 24, an insider claimed that the open-world sandbox video game will be coming out for the Nintendo Wii U in addition to potentially revealing the launch dates for “Minecraft: PS4 Edition and “Minecraft: Xbox One Edition.”
The source from Nintendo Enthusiast disclosed that Nintendo has been pursuing a port of “Minecraft.” The company’s efforts appear to be paying off as an unnamed developer recently received development kits. The Nintendo Wii U version is rumored to put a big emphasis on the use of the touch screen game pad controller.
The development studio working on the port to Nintendo’s high-definition console is most likely 4J Studios. The company was responsible for “Minecraft: PS3 Edition” and “Minecraft: Xbox 360 Edition” along with the future releases on the PS4, Playstation Vita and Xbox One platforms. You can check out a few screenshots from the two console ports that were released so far in the slideshow to the left of this article.
“Minecraft” on the Nintendo Wii U is expected to be made available sometime during the summer time frame of 2014. “Minecraft: PS4 Edition and “Minecraft: Xbox One Edition” are also scheduled to arrive at the same time despite originally being announced as launch titles for each respective system.
The original PC version of the open-world sandbox video game was developed by Mojang.
