Mojang has released an official comment regarding the release date for Minecraft: PS4 Edition and Minecraft: Xbox One Edition. According to an updated report by The Epoch Time from April 3, Mojang has given Minecraft fans a status update on the development of Minecraft for next-gen consoles and provided a general idea as to when we may hear an official release date for the PS4 and Xbox One versions of the popular title.

With Minecraft Title Update 14 now available on both Minecraft: Xbox 360 Edition and Minecraft: PS3 Edition, 4J Studios has shifted their resources and time to completing development of Minecraft for next-gen consoles.

Though 4J Studios hasn’t been very vocal about details concerning Minecraft for PS4 nor Xbox One, Mojang, the publisher of Minecraft on home consoles, has shared that work is being done on the PS4 and Xbox One edition. At this time, a release date cannot yet be announced, but the developer has hope that they may be able to tell everyone an official release date soon. For you guys asking about the Xbox One and Playstation 4 edition: It is being worked on as we speak! I got no proper dates yet, but hopefully soon we can tell you!

As we previously reported, 4J Studios is doing great work on the next-gen ports of Minecraft. Microsoft’s Phil Spencer shared late last month that a release for Minecraft: Xbox One Edition is really close. Find Spencer’s full statement below:

They control the release date of that, but I’ll tell people that we’re getting really close.

Minecraft is currently available on PS3, Xbox 360, and PC. The title will soon be released on PS4, Xbox One, and PS Vita.
