The popularity for the recently-released “Minecraft: PS3 Edition” has been compared to other Playstation Network games that were released in 2013. According to a report from the Official U.S. Playstation Blog on Dec. 23, the results for the annual Game of the Year Awards for Playstation gamers were posted.
Fans were able to vote on several categories, including the best digital release of the past year. “Minecraft: PS3 Edition” ended up third in the voting, losing to “Resogun” and “Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon.” “Guacamelee” rounds out the top four selections.
“Minecraft: PS3 Edition” may have been voted higher if it came out earlier this year instead right at the end of it. Furthermore, “Resogun” was offered as a free game on the Playstation Plus, which resulted in all PS4 players being able to play the side-scrolling shooter.
The Playstation 3 port of “Minecraft” came out through the Playstation Store last week on Dec. 17. The open-world sandbox video game launched with several glitches. However, a new patch was released to address some of the issues.
“Minecraft: PS3 Edition” was developed by 4J Studios in collaboration with Mojang. The downloadable title has an official price tag of $19.99. A port for the PS4, Playstation Vita and Xbox One is also currently in development although the release dates have not yet been confirmed for the future iterations.
