Patch 1.05/Title Update 15 for “Minecraft: Playstation 3 Edition” is not yet out but 4J Studios gave a clue Tuesday as to what will be coming with the 1.06 patch. Simply put, more texture packs are on the way including one that is yet to be seen.
4J Studios is still waiting to hear back from Sony US on the status of Patch 1.05/Title Update 15. The patch is only to fix bugs ranging from audio issues to world generation glitches to mob bugs. The update was deployed for the “Xbox 360 Edition” last Thursday, but the “PS3 Edition” release is now up against the normal two week certification process deadline.
Update: Patch 1.05 for "Minecraft: PS3 Edition" is rolling out now per 4J Studios.
Patch 1.06/Title Update 16 promises to be more bug fixes but 4J Studios confirmed that at least two texture packs will be supported with the patch. The first is the Natural Texture Pack which was released to the Xbox 360 last October. The second, however, is the all new Candy Texture Pack that has yet to be released for Xbox 360 either. However, it sounds like 4J Studios is all but done with the texture pack as it stated that it is “Wrapping it up now” on Twitter.
There’s still no official word on the release of the Xbox One, Playstation 4 or PS Vita versions of “Minecraft”. However, 4J Studios did tease all three in an image of “Perfect Dark Rum” last Friday. In the image, you could clearly see a PS Vita handheld running the game with a monitor displaying a different image for the “Playstation 4 Edition” in the background. The obvious implication here is that the PS Vita is not playing “Minecraft” via the supported Remote Play feature.
For now, it appears that the next-gen console and PS Vita versions of “Minecraft” will be released sometime after Patch 1.06/Title Update 16 is released. Confirmed future updates to the game include the addition of Horses, the Wither Boss, Wither Skeletons and Hoppers. Which update those will come in has still yet to be determined.
