Minecraft: Playstation 3 Edition hasn't sold as fast as the Xbox 360 Edition but it still reached an important milestone Friday as developer Mojang announced that the game passed the one million sales mark.
"Just wanted to let you know that Minecraft on PS3 recently sold over 1 million copies (that has to be some kind of record on PSN, no?)," Mojang business manager Daniel Kaplan wrote on the official Mojang website.
"It is crazy considering the game was released just before Christmas last year. We are super grateful for the support and we are very thankful for your dedication and I hope you will like the future updates we have planned for you (more on that in a later blog post)."
Minecraft: PS3 Edition was released to the console on Dec. 17. That means it took the game approximately a month to reach the milestone. By comparison, the Xbox 360 Edition needed only five days. To be fair though, many Minecraft console fans appear to have already purchased the game at this point or are waiting for the PS4 Edition release compared to when the Xbox 360 Edition was released.
