A spokesperson from 4J Studios hinted at the sales and install base for the recently-released “Minecraft: PS3 Edition.” According to a message from the company’s official Twitter account on Dec. 26, the individual confirmed that more than “half a million” players have already appeared on the leader boards of the console port.
The number suggests that “Minecraft: PS3 Edition” sold extremely well within the first week of release. The video game came out through the Playstation Store of the Playstation 3 on Dec. 17. The downloadable title has an initial file size of just 85.8 MB. However, the first two patches, which fixed several issues, added more amount.

Great to see over half a million people on the #MinecraftPS3 leaderboards!
The “Minecraft” video game managed to sell more than 30 million copies before the release “Minecraft: PS3 Edition.” In fact, the aforementioned “Minecraft: Xbox 360 Edition” sold more than 10 million units alone.
4J Studios should be expecting more financial success in the coming year. The development team is currently working on “Minecraft: PS4 Edition,” “Minecraft: Vita Edition” and “Minecraft: Xbox One Edition.” The studio is also rumored to be porting the open-world sandbox video game to the Nintendo Wii U with added game pad support.
