4J Studios confirmed more details in regards to "Minecraft PS3 Edition" 1.06 title update. According to a report from Cinema Blend on May 21, the development team revealed that the new title update is currently undergoing certification testing at Sony Computer Entertainment. The console manufacturer expects that the procedure should be completed in time for a release date of May 28. Once it goes live, players can log into the Playstation Network to download the latest version of the PS3 port.
The 1.06 patch for "Minecraft PS3 Edition" is the equivalent to the TU16 patch of "Minecraft Xbox 360 Edition." As a result, it should fix some issues associated with the players becoming invisible in some circumstances. The breeding problems for cats and ocelots were also addressed. You can find the full list of changes for the TU16 patch on the Game and Guide website.
4J Studios previously confirmed that the 1.06 title update is also going to improve the compatibility of DLC packs for "Minecraft PS3 Edition." The port on Sony's console is lacking in downloadable contents when compared to the Xbox 360 game. In fact, not a single mash-up pack has been released for the PS3 iteration. The title update should result in more DLC releases in the near future, however.
With the latest updates for both existing consoles releases of "Minecraft" done, 4J Studios should be focusing their efforts towards the three upcoming ports. "Minecraft Xbox One Edition" was announced nearly a year ago at the Electronic Entertainment Expo while "Minecraft PS4 Edition" and "Minecraft Vita Edition" were confirmed to be in development at the GamesCom event last year. The three products should be released digitally by the end of 2014.
"Minecraft PS3 Edition" recently got a disc release after selling 1.5 million copies as a downloadable title on the Playstation Store when it first launched during the holiday season in 2013. Despite strong initial sales, the PS3 port still has a long way to go in order to catch up to "Minecraft Xbox 360 Edition," which has sold over 12 million units.
