'Minecraft' possibly coming to the Playstation 3, Nintendo Wii U port 'unlikely'

One of the biggest computer games in the world, and the best selling Xbox Arcade title, "Minecraft", might be making it's way onto the Playstation 3, says developer Mojang. This is great news for Playstation owners who've yet to either play the game on the PC or just want to experience the game on a console, and yes there's a difference.

Right now Mojang has an exclusivity deal with the Xbox, meaning "Minecraft", meaning they can't exactly port the game over to the PS3 or Nintendo Wii U. However, lead designer, Jens Bergensten, told iGamer that his team will consider porting the game to Playstation platforms when that deal runs out.

When asked about a Nintendo Wii U port of the game, Bergensten said it's "very unlikely". When you consider how easy it would be to play the game with the Wii U's GamePad controller, it's a bit of a letdown.

Regardless, bringing the game over to Playstation system means it could come to the Vita and Playstation 4 along with the PS3. That's not too shabby Mojang.

"Minecraft: Xbox 360 Edition" is currently available via the Xbox Live Arcade.
