‘Minecraft’ ports for PS3, PS4 and Nintendo Wii U discussed (Photos)

Jens Bergensten recently discussed the possibility of the multiplatform video game, “Minecraft,” being ported to the PS3, PS4 and Nintendo Wii U consoles. According to a report by Edge Online on March 5, the lead designer at Mojang revealed that Microsoft currently has an exclusive deal in terms of the game’s release on home consoles. However, the company will consider a port for Playstation, which could mean the PS3, PS4 (or both) in the future. A Nintendo Wii U version is not likely to happen. You can check out some screens from the open-world sandbox game in the slideshow at the top of this article and the comments from Jens Bergensten below (courtesy of Edge Online):

Microsoft has an exclusivity deal for consoles. When it runs out we’ll consider Minecraft for PlayStation, but Wii U is very unlikely.

The PS4, which was recently announced by Sony Computer Entertainment, will be released in North America sometime during this holiday season. “Minecraft” was first released for the PC on Nov. 18, 2011. The Xbox 360 port, which was called “Minecraft: Xbox 360 Edition,” came out on May 9, 2012.
