After Title Update 16 became available to download on Monday for the Xbox 360 version of Minecraft, 4J Studios also provided a date for when the content will launch on the Playstation 3. The developer confirmed on May 19 that their most recent talks with Sony point towards Patch 1.06 for Minecraft: PS3 Edition hitting the Playstation Network on next Wednesday.
Patch 1.06 is the PS3 equivalent to Title Update 16 for the Xbox 360 version of Minecraft for which 4J Studios released the full change log of on Monday. The patch itself won’t add new features to the game but, instead, fixes several known issues which were introduced in the game’s other recent updates.
Addressed within TU16 and Patch 1.06 are instances of player’s being inadvertently turned invisible by a number of in-game triggers. The update also corrects several issues involving the taming and breeding of the animals of Minecraft.
Playstation 3 owners will also be receiving two new texture packs for Minecraft next week as Patch 1.06 will come with a few tweaks that make the launch of additional DLC add-ons finally possible on the Sony console. Both the Candy and Natural texture packs, which are already available for Minecraft: Xbox 360 Edition, will release alongside next week’s patch. These add-ons will change all textures within the sandbox title to match a specific theme.
After releasing as a digital-only title via the PS Store last December, Minecraft: PS3 Edition received a retail release last week which placed physical discs for purchase in stores. Further expanding the growing list of platforms that Minecraft can be found on, 4J Studios is presently developing versions of the game to release on Xbox One, PS4, and PS Vita later this year. Fans will be able to import their existing save files to the next-gen platforms so that they may continue playing the same world seeds.
