The incredible success story of Minecraft continued Friday as new sales numbers for the original PC version and the Xbox 360 version of the open-world sandbox title were revealed.

According to an official announcement from Microsoft, Minecraft: Xbox 360 Edition achieved the 10 million copies sold mark. To celebrate, there will be a special one day sale on Saturday, Dec. 14 for all Skin Packs and Texture Packs for the game. Everything will be 50 percent off with the exception of Mash Up Packs and the game itself.

That's not all though as Minecraft creator Markus "Notch" Persson had an announcement about the PC version of the game as well.

"The original version of Minecraft has now passed 13 million copies sold. Official statement: whoa," Persson wrote on Twitter.

Minecraft was officially launched on the PC in 2011 though the game was being sold in alpha and beta versions before that. The Xbox 360 Edition arrived in June 2013 thanks to an exclusive deal between Mojang and Microsoft. That exclusivity deal has ended and a Playstation 3 Edition will be launching soon followed by PS4, Xbox One and PS Vita Editions as well.
