It was announced yesterday at Gamescom that Minecraft will finally be heading to the Playstation family of consoles. 4J Studios, the developer responsible for porting the block building title to the Xbox 360 and Xbox One, confirmed on their official Twitter account on Wednesday that they will also be the team behind bringing Minecraft to the Playstation 4 in addition to the PS3 and PS Vita.
Mojang is likely comfortable with giving the task to 4J Studios since the developer’s Xbox 360 version of the game has sold over 8 million copies since its release last year. Minecraft: Xbox 360 Edition has also gone on to receive a physical retail disc release which has also dominated sales charts since launching earlier this summer.
Minecraft will be a launch title for the upcoming Playstation 4 console. Versions of the title will also releases on the Playstation 3 and Sony’s handheld, the Playstation Vita. 4J Studios other console version of the game, Minecraft: Xbox 360 Edition, is out now and a version has also been announced for the Xbox One.
