'Minecraft' MineCon 2013 confirmed for US East Coast, announcement in May

Mojang is still working on the details for the 2013 edition of Minecraft convention, MineCon. However, the exact location has been narrowed down to at least one coast thanks to an update from lead developer Jens Bergensten on Wednesday.

MineCon was confirmed for the United States last month but Bergensten let slip that it would be located on the US East Coast on Twitter. He then offered a longer explanation on Reddit.

"I know "east coast" is very unprecise, but it will be announced in a few weeks," Bergensten said. "As far as I know, the contract with the location has been signed, so it's mainly a question of people getting back from business trips... ETA for announcement should be end of May. Tickets will be available later (probably after summer, but I could be wrong)."

Last year's MineCon was held in Disneyland Paris which opens up the possibility that this year's edition could make a return to the House of Mouse by heading to Disney World in Orlando, Florida. The other likely choices are New York City and Boston though this writer can always hope for Atlanta, Georgia. We have the world's busiest airport, the world's largest aquarium and Coke. That's gotta count for something, right?
