'Minecraft' MineCon 2013 coming to the United States

MineCon, the annual convention celebrating all things Minecraft, is returning to the United States in 2013 according to a tweet from a Mojang employee Sunday.

"MINECON will be in the US this year. Sorry dear Brits. I'm not coming to scout locations!" Mojang's Lydia Winters tweeted.

The convention kicked off in 2010 with a small event of only 50 people in Bellevue, Washington before exploding to 5,000 attendees at the Mandalay Bay hotel in Las Vegas. The independent Swedish developer then took the convention to Disneyland Paris in 2012.

The last two MineCon conventions took place in November. Obviously, an exact location and date has not been announced yet.

Mojang should have plenty to talk about at this year's edition of MineCon. The PC version recently passed 10 million in sales and the studio is planning on launching the Minecraft Realms server service sometime this year. Additionally, Scrolls, the digital trading card game is also expected to hit beta this year and everyone will be wondering about the status of 0x10c which Minecraft creator Markus "Notch" Persson recently revealed was "put on ice" because he hit a creative block.
