Those who have been waiting for information on 4J Studios’ first mash-up pack for Minecraft: Xbox 360 Edition are in luck as the official Xbox Live Arcade website revealed on Sept 1 that the initial pack will transform the popular block-building game into an homage to Bioware’s Mass Effect series.
The Mass Effect mash-up pack will convert the look of the Minecraft game world with textures based off the Bioware trilogy. In addition, the Minecraft: Xbox 360 Edition user interface has been reworked in order to convey more of a science fiction feel. The DLC will also introduce 36 new Mass Effect themed skins as well as numerous music tracks taken right out of Mass Effect 3 in order to complete the transformation. These features can be used either on existing Minecraft worlds or inside a pre-built Mars facility world which recreates the red planet as seen within the Mass Effect franchise.
4J Studios added support for mash-up packs inside Minecraft: Xbox 360 Edition with the recent release of Title Update 12. However, the initial reveal of the first mash-up pack was delayed until now due to legal issues. The Mass Effect mash-up pack add-on releases on Sept 4 for $3.99. This is merely the first game conversion pack planned to release on the Xbox 360 version of Minecraft. More are planned to be announced in the future.
