‘Minecraft’ launch on Xbox one, PS4 not likely to be delayed despite concerns

Some Minecraft fans may be growing anxious to know an exact release date for the upcoming editions of the popular series that are expected to launch on the Xbox One, Playstation 4, and PS Vita sometime in August. However, the reason that a specific date has not yet been announced is likely because one has not been decided upon due to the fact that these new versions of Minecraft are still in development. Providing an update on the next editions of Minecraft, 4J Studios confirmed on July 29 that they are still actively removing bugs from the game.

Judging from messages directed towards 4J Studios around the web, many are fearful that the lack of an official release date means that the Xbox One, PS4, and PS Vita editions of Minecraft might not release in August. News that the developer hasn’t yet completed working on the upcoming ports has only fueled concerns of an imminent delay.

However, all that the developer has left to do at this point is rid the game of known bugs. This is the final stage in game development and means that 4J Studios actually is very close to being ready for release. News that the new-gen editions of the game are nearing the end of their development cycle, alongside the fact that both the 4J Studios and Mojang have not made any announcement otherwise, means that gamers should still expect Minecraft to launch on the Xbox One, Playstation 4, and PS Vita on time.

Minecraft has now sold well over 50 million copies across all platforms since its initial launch on PC. Two years ago, the creative sandbox title launched on the Xbox 360. Additional ports have since release on the Playstation 3 as well as iOS and Android devices. The popular game will be doubling the number of platforms it can be played on later this summer when it lands on the Xbox One, PS4, and PS Vita.
