According to a report today from Time’s Techland blog, Minecraft will finally come to the PlayStation 3, more than a year after the ultimate sandbox game landed on the Xbox 360.

In a post to the PlayStation blog, Minecraft developer Mojang announced the game’s arrival on the Sony system, slated for sale on the PSN on Dec. 17.

The Minecraft: PS3 Edition features everything that’s already available with the current versions of the game on other consoles, Mojang said.

“They’re pretty much identical to play, and will be developed in tandem from now on,” Mojang said in the blog.

Downloadable skins and texture packs will be available soon after the game’s release on the PSN, and Mojang said to keep “fingers crossed” for PlayStation-specific skins.

Just last month Microsoft lead producer Roger Carpenter said “it won’t be long” before news about the Xbox One version of the game will be release. You can read that full Examiner report by clicking here.

Mojang said PS4 and PS Vita versions of the game will hit the shelves next year.
