With the upcoming new-gen editions of Minecraft still scheduled to release later this month, 4J Studios continues to work long weekend hours to ensure that the Xbox One and PS4 versions of the game will be able to launch on time. While some fear that a delay might be coming, 4J Studios has stated several times that they are now removing the final bugs from the games and should be sending them off for certification shortly. The developer reassured fans that this is still the case as they announced their plans to work through the weekend on Aug. 9.
4J Studios, who has been the development team responsible for every console port of Minecraft to date, has been atypically quiet on their social network sites recently. This has prompted many games to become worried that the new editions of Minecraft might not make their project August release date. Even when the developer does provide a progress update, the announcement seems to be the same message.
However, if anything should been gathered from the infrequent announcements, it’s that 4J Studios is actually busy working to prepare the Xbox One, PS4, and PS Vita for release. At the present time, the developer has repeatedly expressed their desire to meet this month’s launch date. Until they officially announce otherwise, gamers should assume that the new games should release on time.
Further providing evidence that the new-gen editions of Minecraft will still become available this month, a recent in-store product list from Gamestop noted that the retailer had the Xbox One version of the popular creation game set for Aug. 19. While that date has not been confirmed, it shows that all sources still agree that Minecraft’s new titles are on track to release in the coming weeks.
Over 50 million copies of Minecraft have been sold across all platforms. Those numbers will undoubtedly increase after the game soon expands to the Xbox One, Playstation 4 and PS Vita.
