Update: ‘Minecraft’ Candy Texture Pack DLC out now on Xbox 360, screens inlcuded

4J Studios first announced that they were working on the Candy Texture Pack for the Xbox 360 and Playstation 3 editions of Minecraft more than a month ago. While PS3 owners will still have to wait on their chance to transform the landscape of popular sandbox title into assorted sugary treats, Xbox 360 players can now download the newest DLC pack for Minecraft: Xbox 360 Edition after the official website for Xbox Live Arcade announced on April 17 that the Candy Texture Pack is now available to purchase for only one dollar.

The Candy Texture Pack alters everything inside Minecraft in order to give the game a candy-themed twist. Hills will look like cherry-topped ice cream scoops while giant lollipop trees cover can be seen in the distance. The new add-on doesn’t just change the game’s natural landscape either. Villages are comprised of gingerbread houses and NPC citizens look like pastry chef. Furthermore, even the games deadly monsters don’t appear as threatening when players are become besieged by peppermint skeletons.

Currently the Candy Texture Pack is only available for the Xbox 360 version of Minecraft, but developer 4J Studios assures fans that the DLC is also coming to the game’s PS3 edition. However, fans will have to wait on the release of Patch 1.06 before either the Candy Texture Pack and the Natural Texture Pack release for Minecraft: PS3 Edition.

Versions of Minecraft are now available on both the Xbox 360 and PS3. Gamers can download the game from Xbox Live Arcade or the PS Store. Additionally, fans can also purchase Minecraft: Xbox 360 Edition in stores due to the release of a physical disc last summer. Starting next month, PS3 owners will also be able to pick up the game off of store shelves as it too it set to receive a retail release. 4J Studios is now working to bring the game to both the Xbox One and PS4.

Update: 4J Studios spoke from their official Twitter account on Thursday to further detail their plans to bring the Candy Texture Pack to the Playstation 3 version of Minecraft. The developer confirmed that they are now turning their primary focus to the Xbox One and PS4 versions of the game but will release Patch 1.06 which will bring the Candy Texture Pack as well as the Natural Texture Pack to Minecraft: PS3 Edition.

Furthermore, 4J Studios has also updated their Twitter page to show new images of the recently released Candy Texture Pack on Xbox 360. The developer posted a series of new screenshots in addition to changing their top Twitter image to a screen from the new DLC.
