Mojan announced today that update 1.7 is coming to Minecraft and with it several changes to the world and it's generator.
Now there are new biomes, smaller oceans, different flowers, and that's just to name a few of the new features. They rewrote the multiplayer script and how it works, along with a lot more.
To expand on the oceans detail; now the oceans on Minecraft are much smaller with many more islands, which make getting lost in the ocean nearly impossible (unless maybe your boat blows up). This is good news, especially for all those players who have a chronic case of spawning in ocean syndrome.
They've also overhauled the fishing system with new fish, rod enchantments, and more. So hopefully now the boring task of fishing for survival won't be quite as boring yet equally time consuming.
The other big news of 1.7 is the new blocks. If you want to see the details hop on over to Mojang.com and see for yourself. It should be a fun weekend for Minecraft players, so stay tuned and don't miss your opportunity to be the first to play Minecraft 1.7!
