Mindy Smith is back with Snowed In

It was only last year that Nashville songstress Mindy Smith released her fifth full length album – her first to be released independently. Her second independent record will be this month’s Snowed In, a 5 song holiday EP.

Smith’s last Christmas album, My Holiday, was released in 2007. The new EP features three standards (What Child Is This, Silent Night, and Auld Lang Syne) as well as two original songs. The original tracks, Snowed In and Tomorrow Is Christmas Day, were both written by Smith.

She says of the title track:

“The holidays give us an excuse to go overboard spoiling our spouses, children and friends… Snowed In was written from the perspective of feeling fully blessed and only needing for the company of the ones we love and who love us.”

The EP was recorded at LOUD Recording in Nashville, and features top-notch session players like Lex Price (mandolin), Brent Mason (guitar), Michael Rhodes (bass), Eddie Bayers (percussion), John Hobbs (keys), and Andrea Zonn (viola).

While Snowed In will be available at digital retailers (Amazon, iTunes, etc.) on October 29, only a limited number of physical CDs are being made. You can order one directly from Mindy Smith’s website.
