According to Forbes.com on Feb. 17, country music star Mindy McCready died of an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound. The alleged Mindy McCready suicide was the end to a tragic life of the country star who had suffered from great heartbreak over the last month of her life.
McCready was suffering through the death of her boyfriend David Wilson, who also died of an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound three weeks ago. The suicide in Wilson's case was still under investigation, and rumors circulated for awhile that McCready herself was a suspect in his death.
Then her life fell apart.
She began to slip into depression and her own family believed that her reliance on alcohol to sooth the pain was endangering her two children, one of which was still a toddler. A judge ruled last week that McCready would have to check into a mandated rehab the day after social services came and took her children.
McCready checked into rehab and was quickly released a few days later for outpatient treatment. Her children remained in foster care during this time. Now, following the Mindy McCready suicide, those two boys will grow up without a mother, and nine-month-old Zayne will not have a mother or father.
The Cleburne County Sheriff's Office in Arkansas said they dispatched to a shot fired and found McCready dead on her front porch.
