Mindy McCready committed suicide and was found in her home by police. On Feb. 17, PEOPLE Magazine reported that it is believed that McCready's death was not an accident and that she shot herself. The 37-year-old has tried to commit suicide in the past.
"Ms. McCready was pronounced dead at the scene from what appears to be a single self-inflicted gunshot wound. At this time family members have been notified of the incident. Ms. McCready will be transported to the Arkansas State Crime Lab for an autopsy and the matter will be fully investigated," said the sheriff's department in a statement (via PEOPLE Magazine).
Mindy McCready's suicide comes a little over a month after her boyfriend, David Wilson, was found dead. His cause of death (also believed to be suicide but some skeptics actually believe that Mindy killed him) has not been released. He also suffered a gunshot wound and most media outlets have reported that it was "self-inflicted."
McCready had a very hard time with the passing of her longtime beau. Many believe that she had spiraled backwards after losing him and perhaps the depression was just too much for her to handle. Her family has not yet released a statement.
Mindy McCready's suicide leaves her two young sons without a mom. Some believe this to be the biggest tragedy of all.
