Mindy McCready was found dead Sunday, Feb. 17, after apparently shooting herself and her dog in a supposed suicide act.
The troubled country singer seemingly ended her life after dealing with serious emotional and substance abuse issues stemming from the suicide of her life partner, David Wilson, People magazine reported. Mindy was found dead on the porch of her home due to a single self-inflicted gunshot wound, according to the Cleburne County sheriff's office in Arkansas.
"At this time family members have been notified of the incident," the sheriff's office added, "Ms. McCready will be transported to the Arkansas State Crime Lab for an autopsy and the matter will be fully investigated."
Neighbors reported hearing two gun shots at around 3:30 p.m. and when police arrived at Mindy's home, they found her unresponsive body, as well as her dog's. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
Mindy leaves behind two children, who were recently removed from her home due to her emotional state of mind as well as her alcohol abuse problems. The 37-year-old embattled star's father told the court that ever since her boyfriend, David, killed himself, "she has been in bed for three weeks. Sleeps all day. Drinks all night and taking Rx drugs. Not bathing or even helping take dare of her two children."
