Mindy McCready shot her dog before she committed suicide on Feb. 18. According a report from Fox News, dated Feb. 19, Mindy McCready shot and killed her dog before she took her own life.
It is believed that country singer Mindy McCready shot her dog because she didn't want it to be alone. A friend stated that Mindy McCready loved her dog and it wasn't “an act of malice.”
“As someone who has battled depression, I completely understand not wanting to leave my pets alone,” Anne [last name withheld], from Oklahoma City, said. “There were times the only things that kept me from committing suicide were my dogs and horses. I couldn't leave them alone, without anyone to care for them and love them the way I did. They saved me.”
The past several years had been hard on Mindy McCready. She had been in and out of rehab several times. She had also attempted suicide at least twice before. Earlier this month, her two sons had been removed in her home.
Despite that, Mindy McCready's life seemed to be improving. She was working on new music. Mindy McCready was very much in love with her boyfriend, David Wilson. Unfortunately, David Wilson died this past January by what appeared to be a self-inflicted gunshot. This sent Mindy McCready into a serious depression she could not rise above.
“Mindy McCready must have been in a very dark place,” Anne continued. “It appears it was something she thought about, planned. I am so sad for her kids and the rest of her family. I hope she is finally at peace.”
Country music stars are rallying. Mindy McCready's friends in country music are working to organize a memorial in Nashville for the country singer.
