Mindy McCready's house filthy: Dog feces and rotten food creating a stench

When police arrived at Mindy McCready’s home the day of her suicide, they walked into a house full of dog feces and garbage. The smell was horrendous as food was left out and it appeared that no one had cleaned up after the dog for quite some time, according to the New York Daily News on Wednesday, Feb. 20, 2012.

A police source spoke with the media and revealed the filthy conditions that they walked into the day of McCready’s suicide. He also said there were prescription bottles filled with pills in plain view on McCready’s nightstand and in the bathroom.

McCready left two boys behind, the youngest only 10-months-old. The father of this child was David Wilson, Mindy's boyfriend who had killed himself a month before Mindy. That child will grow up knowing that both his parents committed suicide within a month of each other, already setting the stage for some possible deep-rooted problems for the boy as he gets older. Hopefully he will go to someone who can fill his life with joy and let him know he is loved and wanted.

Mindy’s oldest boy’s father is Billy McKnight. This child is only six years old and McKnight told the “Today Show,” about his son Zander, “he’s had a rough six years.” He is probably feeling the pain of his mother gone today, as he is old enough to miss her. The baby is still too young to understand the loss of his mother.

Wilson had killed himself in the same house as Mindy did, as they lived in the same home together. McCready was in such pain after his death that she recreated his suicide to take her own life. She even killed herself in the same spot on the porch where Wilson took a gun to his head and ended his life. Mindy also ended her life with a gun.

The condition the house was in suggests that McCready was extremely depressed, letting it get that bad without cleaning it up. A friend of Mindy’s said that everyone is talking about what a train wreck she was, but she was a human being and a mother who was in a great amount of pain.
