Mindy McCready's funeral: Family shared warm and funny stories of country singer

Mindy McCready’s funeral was held Tuesday in her hometown. The funeral was more like a celebration of McCready’s life with her music playing and a large screen showing photo’s of Mindy through the years, according to ABC News on Feb. 26.

About 200 family and friends gathered to say their final farewell to the country singer in Fort Myers, Florida. The large screen behind the alter flashed Mindy’s images as her mother talked about her daughter’s struggle with life.

"Our Mindy was so tired. She felt helpless," said Mindy’s mother, Gayle Inge. "She was in her darkest moment and she was hurt by so many allegations. She was too emotional to understand."

Mindy McCready was born Malinda Gayle McCready. She was 37 when she committed suicide on Feb. 17, in her home in Arkansas. She died the same way and in the exact same spot as her boyfriend, a month earlier.

David Wilson shot himself on the porch in the home that he shared with Mindy. This is exactly what Mindy did; ended her life with a gunshot wound to the head on the porch in her home.

Custody of Mindy’s two boys was not discussed at the funeral, which was the family’s wishes. It is thought that Mindy’s mother will raise her two young sons, one six-years-old and the other is 10-months-old.

McCready’s funeral was full of warm and funny stories from her loved ones about their memories of Mindy. The country singer’s stepfather, brothers and a cousin shared their fondest memory of the woman who just couldn’t find the peace she needed on earth.
