Mindy McCready death prompts tributes from Carrie Underwood, Leann Rimes (Video)

News of Mindy McCready's sudden passing on Feb. 17, as noted in a previous post on Examiner, promoted a slew of tributes on social media from celebrity friends and followers.

On Twitter, Carrie Underwood said that she grew up listening to the country star. The "American Idol" star who is now a top-notch country singer in her own right sent prayers to her family.

Meanwhile, LeAnn Rimes also took to Twitter to say, "My heart goes out to Mindy McCready's family. I knew her well. It's a horrible tragedy. May peace be with her sons."

"Who's The Boss?" actress Alyssa Milano called the death of Mindy McCready, who died of an apparent suicide, "sad," while Jerrod Niemann stated in a tweet that is attributed to his bus, "RIP Mindy McCready. May ten thousand angels watch over you and your family."

Shawn Robinson paid tribute to Mindy McCready by remembering her experience interacting with the singer. The broadcaster gave some insight about Mindy, gained when she interviewed this talent a while back.

Robinson tweeted, "....[I] realized back then that she could never see how special and talented she was. Heartbreaking."

Heartbreaking for sure. RIP, Mindy McCready, RIP.
