Mindy McCready’s boyfriend’s death being investigated as possible homicide (Video)

Country singer Mindy McCready’s boyfriend died suddenly last week. First reports said suicide but, according to Fox News on Jan. 24, the death is being investigated as a possible homicide.

David Wilson, 34, could have been murdered according to a new report.

"It could take weeks for the state crime lab to complete tests on Mr. Wilson's body, and if you'll notice, it was Mindy McCready's spokesperson--not anyone involved in the investigation--who made the determination that Mr. Wilson's death was due to a self-inflicted gunshot wound," Cleburne County Sheriff Marty Moss told the Enquirer.

A rep for Mindy McCready told Fox411 that Wilson committed suicide.

"Today, we mourn the loss of my life partner and my children's father, David Wilson," McCready said in a statement to FOX411. "David was my soulmate; he was a caregiver and guiding hand to our sons, Zander and Zayne. He was a precious gift from God to all of us and, yesterday, he returned home and is now with his mother and father."

An inside source told the Enquirer that police are investigating whether or not Mindy McCready would stand to gain financially from Wilson’s death. They made it clear, though, that McCready is not a suspect.

Mindy McCready has had a troubled life in Nashville since her first successful album “Ten Thousand Angels” sold two million copies. Her next four albums didn’t enjoy the same success as her personal problems began to interfere. She reportedly suffers from severe depression.

In 2008, McCready allegedly cut her wrists and took pills in an unsuccessful suicide attempt. She was hospitalized.

McCready appeared on the TV show “Celebrity Rehab 3” in 2010. Dr. Drew Pinsky called her an angel in the season finale. In 2011, she sued her mother and the Enquirer over a story titled “Mindy McCready Doesn’t Deserve to Have Her Child Back.”

In the midst of everything else, there have been criminal charges, a rumored affair with married baseball star Roger Clemens and a sex tape that was widely circulated. The death of David Wilson seems like just the last link in a chain of tragic events for the troubled singer.
