Troubled country singer Mindy McCready's boyfriend David Wilson is dead at the age of 34 from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound. MSN reported on Tuesday, Jan. 15 that Wilson's death was confirmed by Mindy McCready in a media released statement on Monday, Jan. 14.
“Today, we mourn the loss of my life partner and my children’s father, David Wilson. David was my soul mate; he was a caregiver and guiding hand to our sons, Zander and Zayne. He was a precious gift from God to all of us and, yesterday, he returned home and is now with his mother and father. David loved and he was loved. Those who knew and loved him will miss him; those who did not know David missed the opportunity to know a truly loving and gifted man.”
People reported that the Cleburne County Arkansas Sheriff’s Office confirmed to the Daily News that authorities responded to his home on Sunday after a receiving a report of a self-inflicted gunshot wound. David Wilson was taken to a nearby hospital where he was later pronounced dead.
The Mindy McCready and David Wilson had been together for about two years. Wilson was the father of her 9-month-old son, Zayne. (McCready, 37, also has an older son, Zander, with country singer Billy McKnight
A rep for McCready tells People that no funeral plans have been made, but that services will likely be held in Arkansas, where the couple resided.
Mindy McCready, 37, is best known for her debut album,"Ten Thousand Angels" which was first released in 1996. The album produced four chart singles on the country charts: the title track at No. 6, followed by her only Number One hit, "Guys Do It All the Time." This song, in turn, was succeeded by "Maybe He'll Notice Her Now," a duet with Richie McDonald, then the lead vocalist of Lonestar. The fourth and final single, "A Girl's Gotta Do (What a Girl's Gotta Do)," peaked at No. 4.
McCready has also made news headlines throughout the years for her many personal tragedies including, numerous legal issues which pertained to abuse, drug addiction and multiple suicide attempts.
