Mindy McCready worked feverishly on putting together an anti-suicide video in the final days leading to her tragic death according to articles published by People magazine, Celebitchy.com and Radar Online on Feb.19.
It’s ironic that no one, including her closest friend, Danno Hanks who worked with her on the project, knew that once the suicide prevention video was finished, Mindy planned to kill herself.
In an interview with E Online, private investigator Danno Hanks and close friend of Mindy McCready said Mindy began calling him daily four or five days prior to her death. She was in good spirits and urgently wanted him to complete the music video for her new song, “ I’ll See You Yesterday. Danno said she was excited about the music video’s imminent completion and he thought it was because she wanted it as a memorial to her boyfriend, David Wilson who had committed suicide only a few weeks ago.

Mindy Was Desperate to Complete the Suicide Prevention Tape
Danno stated that four or five days prior to Mindy McCready’s suicide, she began talking to her every day. She expressed an urgent need
The song on the anti-suicide video, “ I’ll See You Yesterday” was written by one of Mindy’s fans. The song was produced last year by Mindy’s boyfriend David, who recently committed suicide. He was the father of her youngest son, who was born a few months ago.
Speaking of Mindy, Danno said:
“She urgently wanted to get this one song released, but to use it as an anti-suicide public service announcement. She said she wanted to put together this video to help people deal when someone had suffered a suicide in their life.
Mindy sent Danno several pictures of herself and David together, which he synchronized to the song.
There was a message at the end telling people who are contemplating suicide to get in touch with suicideispreventable.org.

Danno’s and Mindy’s Final Conversation Prior to Her Death
Danno says he finished the video Friday night, posted it on YouTube, and sent Mindy a private link.
Mindy e-mailed him saying:
“Beautiful. It made me cry.”
On Saturday, Danno spoke with Mindy again by phone, never realizing that it would be the last time.
Danno said when he asked Mindy when she wanted him to release the video to the public, she cryptically replied:
“You’ll know when.”
The next day Mindy McCready was dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

The Message that Went Over Danno’s Head
In retrospect, Danno now feels that Mindy was reaching out to him, and sending him a message that she was considering suicide. He now bitterly regrets not picking up on the signs.
He says:
“I thought she was talking about sending a message about suicide for David's death but this is unbelievable. She was sending me a message. I wish I had been more alert to what it was.
She was literally having me write her suicide note. If I had known, I would have made sure someone was there with her all the time”.
Danno continues:
"I just didn't think she would do this. She had two kids to live for. "I still can't fathom the whole thing.”
