One month after her boyfriend David Wilson died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound, country music star Mindy McCready turned a gun on herself.
On Sunday, according to Huffington Post, her family found McCready fatally shot along with the family dog at the music star’s home in Heber Springs, Ark. Her boyfriend David Wilson had been found dead on the porch of the home in January.
Neighbors called police after hearing gunshots.
McCready reportedly suffered from depression and alcohol abuse. She had gone through rehab before, and in 2010 appeared on the reality show Celebrity Rehab with Dr. Drew. Her father admitted she was abusing alcohol and prescription drugs again.
Although she had been ordered by a judge to receive evaluation at a metal health facility, instead she was released to undergo outpatient treatment.
McCready recorded a total of five studio albums. In 1996, her debut album Ten Thousand Angels was certified multi-platinum.
She leaves behind two young children, ages six and nine months. David Wilson was the father of her youngest son. McCready was 37.
