As the reports continue to come in regarding Mindy McCready’s suicide on Feb. 17; sources are now stating that McCready killed her family dog before turning the gun on herself, the Daily Mail reports. On Feb. 18, boyfriend and father to six year-old Zander, Billy McKnight appeared on “The Today Show” stating he was “not surprised” after learning the country singer was dead.
It had been a long battle with addiction. McCready was in and out of rehab, attempted suicide more than once, and had a long history of mental health disorders. On Feb. 6 a judge had ordered Mindy to a treatment facility after the sudden death of her boyfriend and father to nine month-old Zayne, David Wilson on Jan. 14.
McKnight wishes to keep the two brothers together even though Zayne is not his. He feels the children have been through enough in life and feels it is in their best interest to grow up together. Wilson’s family has yet to come forward and comment.
McCready’s body was found on the front porch; the same spot where David was found. Her death comes three days after being released from the treatment facility. A song was found called “I’ll See You Yesterday,” which sources claim to be about contemplating suicide. Mindy had asked a friend to help her put together a video; he had no idea she was serious.
