Country music singer Mindy McCready was found dead on Sunday February 17, on the porch of her home in Heber Springs, Tennessee.
The singer reportedly struggled for several years with drugs and alcohol. Her very first arrest was in 2004, when she was charged with filing a fraudulent prescription for the pain killer OxyContin. Life for the artist took a downward spiral in the years that followed as she dealt with an ongoing custody battle for her son with her mother.
In 2011 McCready took her son from her mothers home in Florida and fled to Arkansas where they were soon found after the judge ordered an emergency "pick up" order.
On January 13, McCready's boyfriend and record producer David Wilson also died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound. As she often referred to Wilson as the love of her life, the singer was obviously still dealing with his death.
Just weeks before she committed suicide her sons were taken from her and placed into foster care; McCready's body was found early Sunday morning.
