Mindy McCready: Filth, feces and pills found along with dead dog (Video)

Mindy McCready’s last days were fueled by fear of losing custody of her two young children, according to the N.Y. Daily News today. Mindy’s death by suicide came by way of fearing that her estranged mother would gain custody of Zander, 6, and 10-month-old Zayne. “The most important thing are my babies must come home”, Mindy wrote in an email to her private investigator friend Danno Hanks, who told People magazine, “She lost all hope”.

Mindy, just 37, was found dead Sunday of what authorities said was a self-inflicted gunshot wound to her head on her porch, in Heber Springs, Arkansas. It was the same location that her boyfriend David Wilson’s body was discovered a month ago, also with a gun shot to the head.

According to authorities, Mindy’s house reeked of rotting food that had been left out, and animal feces were everywhere. Multiple prescription bottles full of medication were found on the nightstand and in the bathroom, according to a police source.

“People talk about a train wreck, but the world lost a real person, a human being, a mother”, country star Chely Wright was quoted as saying. A friend of Mindy McCready's from their early days in Nashville said, “I'm praying for her kids”.

The body of Mindy’s dog was also found dead, apparently whom she shot before taking her own life. According to Fox News, Gayle and Michael Inge, McCready’s mother and stepfather, are seeking custody of both children.

Mindy was another of the casualties from Dr. Drew Pinsky's rehab show.
