Mindy McCready denies shooting boyfriend, David Wilson: 'He was my soulmate'

Mindy McCready denies shooting her boyfriend, David Wilson earlier this month. McCready was interviewed by Today from her home in Little Rock on Tuesday where she said she has "never gone through anything this painful," adding that Wilson "didn't just touch my heart, he touched my soul. He was my soulmate."

Wilson was rushed to the hospital earlier this month after he reportedly suffered a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Mindy McCready denies shooting him, but says she was with him after it happened. "I just started screaming, calling 911," she said. "I lay down next to him and just just pleaded with him not to die."

Wilson died on January 13th. The Cleburne County Sheriff's Department says they are still investigating the shooting, but say there are no suspects, including McCready. Investigators expect tests, which will determine whether it was suicide or murder, to be back in a few weeks.

Rumors of an affair surfaced, which led to public suspicion that McCready, who is no stranger to legal issues, shot her boyfriend out of anger. Additional suspicion comes from the bullet having not been found found until the day after the shooting because McCready says "it was in the dog's mouth."

Mindy McCready denies Wilson was having an affair, and when asked if she killed him she said "Oh, my God, no. He was my life. We were each others' life."

David Wilson was 34-years-old.
